Now that we’ve entered into a year I feel that this is a wonderful time to share my top motivational audiobooks that I’ve listened to when I’ve felt down. When I’ve felt I needed inspiration, or just downright needed to give myself a pep talk or learn how to love myself again.
It was hard transitioning to a stay-at-home life when I used to be so career-focused and driven. It was never my dream as a kid to be a stay-at-home Mommy. I always had big career dreams but those plans fell through when I had Cole a little over 3 years ago. I wouldn’t have wanted that decision to go any other way looking back on it, but I still had some personal battles I was struggling with. I felt like I needed to keep my brain stimulated and active before it turned into mush from listening to Cocomelon and Baby Shark so many times.
One way I try to keep educating myself while still being available for my children is to listen to Audible books. I pop in my ear pods, my hands are still free, and I listen away. Sometimes, I need to put it on pause because it can get chaotic at times, but I still have it ready to press play when I can go back to it.
As a mommy of two littles and being the house manager of our home it’s easy to get swept away in the needs of others and tasks. We always need to remember to take time for ourselves and keep our education and self-development in stride. We will be better in the long run for our family.
Below are my top 4 motivational audiobooks to listen to while on the go.
- You are a Badass by Jen Sincero is a great audiobook if you need a boost in confidence and get your head and spirit in the right frame of mind. This book is for you! This how-to-guide to living your best badass life gives you an entertaining way to transform yourself, help create and fix barriers around money, relationships, career, and all around the creation of the life you dream to live. Overcome your fears and step into the badass woman you were meant to be.
- Good Morning, I love You by Shauna Shapiro, PhD is a great book if you struggle with self-love. We are sometimes so hard on ourselves and we forget to show ourselves grace, be kind to ourselves, and LOVE ourselves. When putting the practices that Shapiro discusses in the book, I noticed a lighter weight in my heart and I felt it did transform how I see and treat myself. Always remember to say, “ I love you”.
- Girl, Stop Apologizing, by Rachel Hollis was just the audio I needed to hear about how to deal with Mom guilt and the tugging we feel in our hearts for wanting something more, but we are often too afraid to step forward and face the heats of embarrassment or falling short of perfection. If you’re tired of talking yourself out of your dream Hollis will talk you through behaviors that you can adopt so you can form a path to believing in yourself.
- Unfu*k Yourself, by Gary John Bishop was a book I just purchased because the title caught my eye. But then I realized it was exactly what I needed to hear at the time. Bishop gives you tools and advice in the frankest and realistic way. If you don’t want any sugar-coating, then this is the book for you. When you can demolish the heaviness that weighs you down we can then become truly an Unfu*ked version of ourselves and finally have the ability to thrive and stop the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.
